Please note that the length of wire calculated is the overall length allowed for the specific fixture(s). This includes all wire that connects from the driver, to each fixture, and back to the driver again. Depending on the application, the length of wire can be adjusted. This tool is meant to provide an estimate only; contact Technical Support at 604-708-1184 for an accurate quote.

  • Determine whether the LED driver is Constant Current* or Constant Voltage**.

    • *If your driver is Constant Current, you need to calculate the voltage (see instruction 2 below).
    • **If your driver is Constant Voltage, you need to calculate the current (see instruction 3 below).
  • For Constant Current Drivers:

    • Enter the Load Current (mA) in the appropriate text box. Use the MP Lighting product number to determine the Load Current.
      Example: LED10W350D = 350mA
      LED25W1050 = 1050mA
    • Calculate the Voltage (V) by adding up the voltage of each LED diode in the system.
      Typically, each LED diode will use 3.2V per diode.
    • Choose the appropriate Gauge, Maximum Voltage Drop (2% is typical), and System from the drop down list.
    • Click “Get Length” button and the wire length will be displayed.
  • For Constant Voltage Drivers:

    • Calculate the Load Current (mA) by adding up the current of each leg of LED diodes in the system. Consult the LED product specification sheet (available on our website) to determine the current.
      Example: L01 uses a 1W LED which requires a remote 12V primary, 350mA driver.
      The current for each leg will be 350mA.
    • Enter the Voltage (V) in the appropriate text box. Consult the chart below or the driver’s specification sheet (available on our website) to determine the Voltage (V).
